Correction it was a blizzard, unlike anything I have seen. Barely remembering the 99″ blizzard, this one no one will probably ever forget. Snow snow and more snow. It came down really hard that Wednesday, Feb 2. Whole blocks of neighborhoods lost lights, power and really worried the roof or the windows would blow out. Like a violent thunderstorm but with snow.

What should have been a typical dreary winter day now felt like we were some where in  the tundra. You couldn’t walk down the street without being blown away. Literally. Visibility was so bad all you could see was a few feet ahead of you. We were the lucky ones thought. The people on Lake Shore Drive must have found it so surreal.

Imagine having to leave your car in the middle of the street because no one’s moving, you can’t see and your running out of gas. Yikes! Luckily the city was prepared for it. Just after finding some candles our power came on. Yea! could be heard throughout the building and probably down the block too. We were really surprised because when the power went out a loud boom was heard. Maybe it was the thunder. Whatever it was, it didn’t stop  the electricity for long.

Watching the tv we could also see snowplough trucks were in action and the city was on top of things. Working to restore downed power lines within hours of being reported. Thank Goodness! It was also nice everyone’s cars were towed off LSD free of charge. The way people pulled together was impressive. Now if only people could pull together more often for all the blizzards in life.

It Looks like being frugal is the word du jour lately as most of you know and so we have been rethinking our designs. We will be rescheduling our handbag line which was planned for early February to late spring. This gives customers in the chicagoland area the opportunity to see our pieces in person at one of the many fairs we attend. We are currently focusing on creating some multi functioned pieces that one may wear for a variety of occasions and plan to release them soon. We also have been very busy hard at work doing site upgrades and enhancements and plan to unveil a new look for our site shortly.

As some of you may have seen our Pastries line which has been available since March has been doing well and all will be available online shortly. Our Audrey line is complete and was so well received at our last fest that we sold some of our samples and had to make more, so our focus will be next to get this collection photographed and online. Our purse and handbag collection will then be planned for fall. Vintage inspired handbags and classic purses in a variety of fabrics and textures are to come. We decided to wait on this collection so we could focus on building some proper displays to use at the festivals. Here you can see a photo. We also are working on a gift registry and anticipate it to be completed some time this fall.
